SPRING ONE ROOM CHALLENGE, WEEK SIX: COUNTERTOPS

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet this week because it's super late, I'm so tired, and Netflix is calling my name. We are now in Week Six of the One Room Challenge and Derek and I have been working like crazy the past two weeks trying to finish everything up. We finally got the adhesive we needed to fabricate our new Formica solid surfacing countertop and we were SO CLOSE to being done and ready to install today, but we're just not quite there yet. Derek is actually taking out the old kitchen sink as I type this at 10:30 pm, so we can remove what's left of the old butcher block countertop tomorrow when he gets home from work and get the new one in. I'm so excited!

In addition to learning how to create a solid surfacing countertop, I also experienced the joy that is painting with a paint gun. If you've never used one and you do frequent projects that involve paint, do yourself a favor and get one IMMEDIATELY. I'd been dreading painting the new cabinet doors for the island so much because I did the first one with a roller and small brush and it took me a half hour to do one coat. The paint gun was a total game changer. I'd say in all it took me about 30 minutes to finish everything, front and back. Now that's what I call WINNING.

I still have A LOT to do in addition to the countertop and I'm starting to sweat a bit. The last few weeks of the ORC things start getting pretty interesting, so stay tuned! You can check in on the rest of the participants here and get caught up here:
